Over the years I have participated in a number of projects that have required restoration of images for purposes of reproduction in print, web, or commercial CD ROMs. To the right are a couple of before and after samples. Most of this work is done in digital imaging software such as Adobe Photoshop, however from time to time more traditional production methods have been used.
A great deal of the restoration work I have done has been on vintage comic book stories from the forties and fifties. It's an unfortunate fact that much of the production elements for these stories such as original art, stats, or negatives from the printer have been lost over time for various reasons. All that's left to work from is the cheaply printed comics themselves. These comics can be up to three quarters of a century old, very scarce and expensive to acquire, and in seriously degraded condition.
